Assistant Principal, Teacher ~ Family and Consumer Sciences
Mrs. Lynch has wanted to be a Home Economics teacher since she was nine years old. When she was young, her grandmother was always cooking, sewing and doing arts and crafts. She really enjoyed doing these things, and decided she wanted to teach others how to do them . Mrs. Lynch gets the most satisfaction from teaching when students come back to school and say that they have used the information that she taught them, and when students participate in, and enjoy being in her classes. The required classes that she teaches are Health, Careers, and 7th Grade Living Arts. The electives she teaches are Survival Cuisine, Family, and Home Management. Mrs. Lynch has taught for the past 17 years, in all of the local high schools, in a variety of subjects, and has been the assistant principal for three years. She graduated from the University of Vermont in December of 1984.
Mrs. Lynch has been the chairperson of Project Graduation for 5 of the 6 years it has been in existence. This is a chemical free event held the night of graduation to ensure the students are safe. Money is raised throughout the school year, and this goes to pay for the event. In the past, this event has been held at Bretton Woods, Loon Mountain, The Royalty Inn, and last year the students went white water rafting. This year the students are planning a trip to Six Flags amusement park in Springfield, Mass.
As the assistant principal, she is in charge of the buildings when the principal is absent. She is the head of the Educational Support Team, which is a group of teachers who help students be more of a success in their classes. Students who feel they need extra help can refer themselves to the EST and then a meeting is set up with the students and the teachers. Teachers can also refer students who they feel may need some extra help.
In her spare time, Mrs. Lynch enjoys reading, crafting, and riding the Harley. Her summers are spent at a campground, where she is employed in the front office. Her family includes two children ages 16 and 13 and her husband of 17 1/2 years.
