Monsieur Richard Gelles and his 25 French enthusiasts have been quite busy this year. The French Club was started to encourage those interested in foreign culture and language to become more familiar with our neighbors to the north. This club is open to everyone in grades 7-12, regardless of whether or not you are currently enrolled in a French class.
The French Club has had two field trips thus far. The first trip was to Le Rendez-Vous Bakery in Colebrook, where the students enjoyed authentic French desserts. However, the students were required to order their goodies in French, meaning pronunciation and annunciation determined the sweetness of the field trip for each student. The second outing of the year for the French Club was to the Laiterie de Coaticook. The students took a tour of the dairy factory and were treated to some fresh curd cheese and home-made ice cream.
In order to raise money for a future trip to Quebec City or Montreal, the French Club will held a volleyball tournament on March 22.
