The Colebrook Mohawks dominated every facet of this match, defeating a hurting Canaan squad 6-0. The Lady Eagles entered the game with only eleven healthy players. Colebrook showed no mercy, cruising past their beleaguered opponent with four first half goals and a whopping 34 shots total. The Mohawks received a strong performance from Brooke Stevens, who accounted for half of her team's six goals.
The Canaan defense was peppered with countless shots from close range in the opening half. Stevens opened the scoring in the twelfth minute, tucking a shot into the lower right corner of the goal. She added her second goal of the half in the 23rd minute, scoring over the drawn-out goalkeeper. Goals from Dana Lyons and Kristin Call would extend the lead to 4-0 at halftime.
The Mohawk onslaught continued throughout the second half, but could only manage two additional goals. With less than five minutes in the game, Stevens completed the hat-trick again placing a shot over the head of Canaan keeper Miranda Havalotti. Havalotti was kept busy, racking up 22 saves in the game. The Lady Eagles could do little in the offensive department, accumulating only four shots on goal.
With the loss, the Lady Eagles stand at 4-6-1 on the season. Coach Tim Gray will hope his team can get healthy during a brief break in action in a rigorous schedule. The Lady Eagles will look to get back on the winning track next Tuesday in Pittsburg.
