Galt Too Much for Hurting Canaan Squad

The Canaan girls never seemed to get their feet planted on the soft field in Alexander Galt. Though heavy rainstorms had left the playing field muddy and slippery, Galt was able to stand firmly. The Pipers' offense came roaring out of the gates and put this one out of reach early, cruising to a 6-0 victory. Canaan could to little to take the pressure off their defense, as their shorthanded offense could only manage a single shot on goal. The Lady Eagles were missing several key players in this match, leaving coach Tim Gray with limited options off the bench.

The Pipers took full advantage, scoring five first-half goals to seal this match's fate by halftime. The balanced attack was led by Mindy MacIver, who scored two goals in the opening half. Five different Pipers combined for six goals, five of which were scored unassisted.

Canaan goalkeeper Miranda Havalotti tallied 14 saves in the match. Canaan's lone shot was a blast from distance off the foot of Paige Marchand.

The loss pushes Canaan's record to 3-5-1. The Lady Eagles will look to recuperate and heal before their showdown with Craftsbury on October 3rd.
