Lady Eagles Fall to Thetford

The Canaan girls dropped their second straight game and fell to 1-3 on the season after falling to Thetford Academy 3-0. The shutout loss was the second in as many games for the Lady Eagles. Playing for the first time without injured winger Danielle Harris, the Eagles offense struggled to put pressure on the Thetford back line. On the other end of the field, the Thetford offense was able to quickly gain the lead and cruise to the victory.

In the fifth minute, Thetford senior Hazel Wood took a cross and buried the ball into the back of the net for the early advantage. The Eagles would hold the score at 1-0 for over twenty minutes, but the Thetford offense would find its way back into the scoring column in the 26th minute. Madi Perrin would net the second goal of the match on a chip from Wood. Thetford kept the pressure on the Canaan defense until halftime, adding a third goal six minutes later on a Perrin chip to Terri Chapman.

The three goal deficit proved to be too much for the Lady Eagles. Though the defense kept Thetford from further widening the lead, the offense could not chip away at the lead. Canaan goalkeeper Miranda Havalotti managed seven saves while shutting out the Thetford offense in the second half.
