The UCA Crusaders avenged an earlier loss to the Lady Eagles on Saturday, defeating them 2-0 in their final game of the season. This match was a mirror image of the first match-up between these teams, but the breaks went in the other direction this time. The Crusaders were able to score a goal in each half to squeak out the narrow victory. The Canaan offense had several chances, but could not put a single shot into the net.

From the beginning, it was apparent that this would be a tight match. The ball was possessed equally by both teams, but the Crusaders were getting more quality shots on goal. Eventually, their persistent attack broke through for the opening score midway through the half. Despite a heightened level of intensity, the Lady Eagles were unable to net the equalizer, and the Crusaders took the one goal advantage into the half.

In a symbolic microcosm of Canaan's season, injury struck yet again in the second half as Sam Fortin was carried off the field with a sprained ankle. The Lady Eagles rallied around their injured teammate, but could not tie the score. The UCA defense did not budge, and the offense added a late goal to seal the match.

The loss ends Canaan's season with a 4-9-1 record. There is good reason for optimism in future seasons for the young Lady Eagles, as they lose only three seniors from this year's squad.
