Lady Eagles Pound Stratford

The Canaan Eagles picked up their second win in a row with a convincing 15-0 win over the Stratford Lions. The Eagles wasted no time getting the lead, and made sure that the Lions did not hang around. A steady dose of offense gave Canaan starter Annick Marquis plenty of run support, as her team took care of business to end this game after five innings.

A huge first inning for the Eagles set the tempo for the rest of the game. The Canaan bats exploded for six runs in the opening half-inning. The top of the order was on fire in this one, with leadoff batter Danielle Harris leading the way with three hits. With plenty of baserunners on all day, the middle of the lineup had ample RBI opportunities. Marquis helped her own cause on the mound by banging out three hits of her own.

Despite the big lead, the Canaan bats remained focused. The Eagles would plate four more runs in the second inning to make their lead an even ten. After failing to score in the third inning, the bats would come alive with another four-run inning in the fourth.

Needing a single run to end this game in five innings, the Eagles did just that in the fifth. Marquis continued to dominate the Lions to earn the win and shutout.

The win brings the Eagles' record back above .500 at 3-2.
